Answers Before You Pick Up the Phone
On most modern refrigerators the fresh food section is cooled by air moved from the freezer evaporator, so a warm fridge with a cold freezer usually points at airflow rather than refrigerant. Common causes are a failed evaporator fan motor, a defrost fault letting frost block the evaporator, or a damper stuck closed. One visit normally confirms which.
Salt. It corrodes condenser and evaporator coils, attacks electrical terminals, and leaves contacts that no longer make cleanly. That process runs continuously on the coast, so equipment here shows its age earlier than the same unit inland even with good maintenance.
Sometimes yes and sometimes no, and we will tell you honestly. A built-in column is generally worth repairing well past the point where a budget freestanding unit is not, because replacing a built-in means cabinetry work as well as an appliance. Once we have diagnosed the fault you get the repair cost and can weigh it yourself.
